Lewis's background is eclectic, with studies in geology, international relations, Bible, biomedical research and marketing. After several years of writing, editing, and managing scientific writers in the field of contract toxicology research (interrupted by a missionary stint in Turkey), he transitioned to marketing copywriting and freelance scientific writing in 2005.
